The National MS Society offers free educational webinars with experts across the country each month on the second Tuesday. These are great opportunities to learn about research, treatments, tips for living, and to get your own questions answered. The National MS Society calls the CAN DO programs “Life Empowerment Programs” with their motto “The Power to be More than Your MS.”
Go to www.mscando.org/webinar to register for the free webinar sessions.
The next two webinars look very interesting to those who have MS or who are supporting an MS patient. And, if you are not available to participate when the webinar is held, then you can view it in the webinar archives at the website.
- On Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 8-9 p.m. ET, the webinar “Emerging Therapies: What does the future offer?” will be available. Dr. John Schafer M.D., FAAN will discuss research developments which bring new treatment options for relapsing and remitting MS. He will discuss how to make decisions about what treatments to pursue. Dr. Schafer is a graduate of University of Chicago Medical School and University of California, San Francisco. He is an MS certified neurologist, and has practiced neurology in California since 1978.
- On Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 8-9 p.m. ET, the webinar “Coping and Adaptation: Strategies for Individuals and Families Living with MS” will feature a clinical psychologist and a physical therapist discussing coping with MS. This topic would be a valuable one for patients and spouses, patients and adult children, or patients and supportive friends and relatives to view. Dr. Rosalind Kalb PhD, a clinical psychologist, is vice president of Clinical Care at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and has worked with people living with MS for more than 25 years. She will be joined by Mandy Rohrig PT, DPT, a physical therapist, who is a CAN DO program consultant with experience with MS patients.
Make the upcoming second Tuesdays of November and December a time to learn by watching these two webinars that are worth watching
